THE LIBRARY OF ALL POSSIBLE THINGS
The Library of All Possible Things
IMMERSIVE
The Library of All Possible Things is an immersive experience by Argentine filmmakers M. Laura Ruggiero (SeirenFilms) and Ana Fraile (PulpoFilms), showcased at IDFA 2024’s prestigious DocLab Forum.
Inspired by Nobel laureate César Milstein’s vision of the immune system as an “infinite library,” this project reimagines the human body as a living archive of resilience, where each cell carries the memory of ancient defenses and survival.
Through a blend of immersive storytelling, scientific exploration, and cutting-edge technology, The Library of All Possible Things invites audiences to explore the human body as the next great frontier. Celebrating Milstein’s commitment to open science, this project aims to make knowledge accessible to all, bridging cultural and economic divides.
Join us as we uncover the hidden worlds within, transforming science into a journey of awe and discovery.
We are Laura and Ana, two filmmakers from Argentina, exploring the intersection of film, science, and technology. Together, we’ve created The Library of All Possible Things, a cinematic and immersive experience that invites audiences to journey into the intricate world of the immune system—a system that connects us all.
Imagine your body as a vast, living library. Each time it encounters a virus or bacteria, it writes a new book, a guide to future survival. The immune system uses antibodies, specialized markers, to identify and combat threats, storing these “bookmarks” in its ever-evolving archive.
Sometimes, though, the system falters. For those moments, science has given us monoclonal antibodies—artificial bookmarks developed in laboratories. These tools, invented by César Milstein (Ana’s great uncle and Nobel laureate), revolutionized medicine, enabling treatments for diseases like cancer and COVID-19, and are embedded in diagnostic tools like rapid tests.
Through an immersive installation and a traveling VR experience, The Library of All Possible Things translates this complex science into a story of wonder. Step into a vast, surreal library where books glow, fall, and rearrange themselves. Witness the silent battles your body fights every day to keep you alive, and see how monoclonals restore order when chaos threatens.
This experience is more than just science—it’s an exploration of resilience, evolution, and the invisible systems that sustain life. By combining storytelling and cutting-edge technology, we aim to make the marvels of immunology accessible to everyone, from museums and universities to rural schools and remote communities.
We’re currently seeking partners—labs, incubators, and organizations—who share our belief in the power of storytelling to bridge science and humanity. Together, we can bring this transformative experience to audiences around the world.
The next great frontier isn’t in the stars—it’s within us.
